Canada is facing an unprecedented substance addiction crisis, with alarming statistics showing that 1 in 5 Canadians are struggling with moderate to severe substance addiction. As the limitations of harm reduction models and safe injection sites become increasingly clear, it is time forthe Body of Christ to take action.
In this presentation, we will explore the complexity of addiction, discussing trauma, mental health, and why addiction is a multifaceted issue requiring more than short-term or “quick-fix” solutions; recovery is a long, difficult journey that demands substantial support, life transformation, and a faith-based approach. We will also highlight the critical role of faith in the journey toward sobriety, exploring the transformative power of Christ in the recovery process. Through partnerships, outreach programs, andinitiatives like Celebrate Recovery and in-patient ministries like Teen Challenge Canada, churches can become a lifeline for individuals seeking freedom from addiction.
Together, we can move past existing stigmas around individuals in addiction, towards offering real, lasting compassion, support and change in Jesus' name, offering not just temporary relief, but true healing and transformation.
The purpose of the "GO Therefore" Matt: 28:19 is to unify believers from every tribe and nation and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.
